Unloading From Information Overload – Part 2

What Can You Do About Information Overload?

Starting a new marketing project is quite like rolling a boulder up a hill.  If you are clever, careful and work at it, you can get the boulder to the top of the hill and then let it roll down the other side. 

Once you do that and keep the slope in front of the boulder clear, the boulder will keep on rolling, pickup speed and smash everything that is in its path.

But, imagine what happens when you have two, three or four projects you are working on.  If you try to move more than one boulder at a time to the top of the hill … forget it!  You can probably bet money that not one of the boulders will ever get there!

Internet marketing is like that.  It takes a lot of focus to get any project going and that is, in fact, the best solution to both problems.  Remember the boulder… once your project gets over the top of the hill and picks up enough speed to smash everything in its path it will be like nothing you have ever experienced.

The best solution to both problems is to FOCUS. 

What does that mean?  It means that…

… If your problem is over commitment, take a step back, take a deep breath and choose just one or two projects to work on; and, one of them can be your J.O.B. 

After you choose what you’re going to work on, absolutely refuse, totally resist and turn your back on anything that might influence you to start another project before at least one of your current projects is totally, completely finished. 

This is the only solution to overcome your tendency to do more than you have time to do which is a vertical drop to failure.

… If your problem is information overload, you need to understand the root cause of the problem… you are probably listening to too much information from too many “Gurus.” 

I had this problem at one time in my internet marketing career.  And, here’s what I did:

  1. I stopped listening to everyone who had a product that I could afford to buy.  I stopped hoping that the next “Expert” would give me the “magic formula to success” on the internet. 
    Let me save you a lot of time and money… There is a formula for success on the internet:  Hard Work + Intimate Knowledge of a “Laser-Targeted” Subject Area with Potential will almost always yield Internet Marketing SUCCESS.
  2. I choose specific Internet Marketing Experts to learn from for specific reasons that were and still are important to me. You need to do the same. 

    Here’s a warning and it’s tremendously important:  Choose only one Expert to follow.  That expert should be one that teaches enough that you can combine what you learn from them with what you already know so that you can accomplish your Business Objectives.

    Remember, I have been involved with internet marketing since the late 1990s so I have a few more Experts on my list than most of you might have.  Here’s my list:

    • Jeff Johnson – Tremendous is the only word to describe him.  And, he has tons of free training videos.  He does SEO with an emphasis on Video and Affiliate Marketing.  You would do well to go to sleep at night listing to his stuff.
    • Mike Koenigs – His traffic driving sales system (Traffic Geyser) is awesome! His training is well organized and easy to understand.  I use him now in almost all of my SEO-based marketing campaigns because of the Traffic Geyser Tool.
    • Jimmy D. Brown – He’s one of the “steady Eddies” of Internet Marketing. Hugely successful, simple, easy to understand approaches to making baskets full of cash on the internet. Unfortunately, I think he’s retiring.  I’ve been buying his stuff since around the year 2001.
    • Mark Ling – His Affilorama product line is absolutely outstanding.  I’ve only done a small amount of business with him to date.  But, I really like his “stuff.”
      He teaches you how to build a business on the internet a little piece at a time. 

      Then, one day, you wake up and realize that you are making tens of thousands of dollars (USD) per month and it was really easy getting there.  If Jimmy D. Brown really is retiring, Mark will be replacing him on my primary list… my list of “Go To Gurus.”

  3. Only listen to marketers who have a specific thing to teach that you are interested in and which is not available from the Expert or Experts on your primary list.  Be very careful to only listen to the information that you can’t get from Experts on your “Go To List.”  If you don’t do that, you will end up with Information Overload again.  

    Internet marketing is like martial arts in this respect… each Master has his own system and techniques. They work together as a complete unit. But, if you mix the techniques from another Master, you may end up on your back looking at the party lights if the systems and techniques from the different Masters are not compatible… or worse.

    Internet marketing is the same way. Mix the techniques from incompatible Gurus and you may find your business on its back looking up at the party lights.

    The Gurus I have in my list are all compatible and where they aren’t I understand what and why.

Unloading From Information Overload – Part 1

Either problem will absolutely kill your internet marketing business… And which ever problem you have, it will murder it with the death of “1000 Cuts.” … a very slow, painful way to watch a business die.

When you are suffering from information overload it may disguise itself as over commitment, or, visa versa.

But, fortunately you don’t need to figure out which problem you have if it’s not obvious to you. Because, both problems have pretty much the same results… you get almost nothing done successfully.

Here are the symptoms that you might see with either problem… you might have some of or all 5 of these symptoms:

Learning How To Dominate Your Market

If you left money on the table, didn’t force your competition to buy PPC (pay-per-click ads) and didn’t make it more difficult for your competition to survive in YOUR niche, then it wasn’t a truly successful day.

Anyone who tells you otherwise is niave, a fool or a liar.  I happen to have fun;  I like to help people;  I like to contribute to charities and worthy organizations…  But, if I don’t make money, a lot of money, I won’t be able to do any of that.

That’s what this site is all about.

Everything that I teach on this website is oriented toward that one thing…  Teaching you how to dominate your marketplace. 

I want you to not only succeed in your chosen area.  I want you to own it. 

I want you “pulverize” your competition.  And, it’s really not as hard as you might think…

… Most of your competition hasn’t got a clue how to do what you are going to learn here.

In order to begin learning about the domination process, it’s necessary to recognize that the marketplace domination is actually the result of a series of activities that are performed by you.  Does that sound like a lot of work?  It is! 

But, don’t worry about it.  If you are here, you can do it.

If you don’t have the time, energy or the skills necessary to do it all yourself,  the Time Management Section of this website contains a complete section on the subject of outsourcing.

When done properly outsourcing can result in tremendous increases in not only your productivity but also in the overall profitability of your business.  But, you must recognize when things should be outsourced and when you should do them yourself.  We cover how to do that in the Time Management Section.

With that said, let’s get into the top-level of The Domination Process.

The actual process of dominating an area has a total of 7 steps or activities.  If you miss even one of these steps, you probably will not dominate your area of interest; you may make money in it but you probably won’t dominate your market place. You will leave a lot of money on the table.

Here are the 7 steps:

  1. Getting your head screwed-on straight;
  2. Getting a “killer” idea;
  3. Learn what/how your visitors want to buy (research your idea);
  4. Plan how to sell your product(s);
  5. Creating your business infrastructure;
  6. Driving traffic and getting customers; and,
  7. Follow-up…  The TRUE Money Machine.
